Why the Earth is part of this work
A life lived with greater authenticity and intention naturally turns us toward the world beyond ourselves. When we quiet the noise, reconnect with our bodies, and begin asking what truly matters — we often find that our relationship with the natural world is part of the answer. Sustainability isn’t an add-on to personal growth; it is woven into it. The same mindfulness that helps us live more fully also opens our eyes to the beauty and fragility of the earth we inhabit. At The Shifted Life, honoring the planet is not a political stance — it is a spiritual one. This thread runs deep in the work here. For years, I had the privilege of running a green business network for the city of Chicago, working alongside people who believed that how we do business could reflect our deepest values. Later, I was part of the team that helped revise Aurora’s Sustainability Plan — a plan that went on to win a county plan of the year award. That work taught me that sustainability is not about sacrifice; it is about designing a life — and a world — where everything we need

There is not one place that does not see you. You must change your life.
— Rilke, Archaic Torso of Apollo
